MAMA board

Postby Suzy on Wed Feb 06, 2008 9:45 pm

In connection with the MAMA board, I have been given permission by the MAMA board's moderator to post the following notice.
Suzy

*****************************************************

The sponsors of the MAMA web site (www.msbp.com) suddenly removed the site's discussion forums early last week.

No other information is known—such as the reason(s) for their decision, or, if and/or when the forums might return.

Should a similar support and resource group be formed AND if I am able to find a practical way to let MAMA "regulars" know of its existence, I most certainly will.

My best,

M.C.

That's strange as it was a well used board.

I wonder if they were threatened by legal depts.

If needs be I can set up a forum in my own IP space. For the moment, however, I think the one we are using works well.

Was the forum on free hosting? if it were, it would be even easier to have it taken down, just a simple email to the host could do it.

There are a few rumours about why Fassit closed down, most speculation.

Your rights closed because they are a small NGO and felt that they needed one of their staff to over see the board and moderate where necessary. They felt it was better to close the forum than to spare a person to oversee the forum.

I don't know anything about the MAMA board, but if this Suzy has a link to their administration, I would be most interested to hear about the real reason the board closed.

I am happy with this board as it is.

I'm not connected in any way with the hosting or management of the MAMA board and I'm not in a position to shed any further light on the reason(s) for its sudden withdrawal.

The only point of contact I have is the MAMA board's moderator, MC, who was not able to give me any other information other than that which I've already posted here.

There is a contact email address on the http://www.msbp.com/ site. As far as I can see, no notice has been placed on the msbp.com site.

Possibly regular contributors to the MAMA board like Penny M might be in a position/willing to clarify?
