Top 10 rediculous SS comments

Top 10 rediculous SS comments

Postby TC on Mon Oct 05, 2009 9:16 am

Hi Folks

Where I am from there is a famous late night TV show- it has a feature called 'Your top 10 list'. Reading through the experiences of people here, these are the common ones I have found so far: (no particular order)
1) The parents are un- cooperative (translation- ask questions/complain and make us look like idiots- revenge is mine)
2) Children never get confused, forgetful, embellish, lie or exaggerate.
3) There is no such thing as 'an accident'.****
4) Child or parent with disability- can't cope- how could you ever survive without our help/interference.
5) As a social worker I can never be wrong- so instead of admitting it, I'll just write 'possible risk of emotional harm'
6) As a social worker it is my job to only include information in reports that justifies my salary- the more half truth, the better.
7) If parents can't 'change' (translation- be brainwashed) as quick as we want, well.....let's twin track.

Those are the common threads I have found to date....any others?

***40 years ago my mother was carrying me up to bed. She was tickling me. We had hard wood stairs. I slipped and cut my chin. When my parents took me to the hospital, the nurse said, 'Aw honey, what happened?' I said 'My mummy did it'. Everyone laughed. My parents (and myself) shutter to think what would happen in this day and age! (I still have a large C shaped scar on the under side of my chin)

What would happen now is the same as whats happening to me, children would be snatched and put up for adoption, do not pass go, no questions asked   .

Another comment: 'THE PARENT REFUSES TO ACCEPT THE GUIDANCE AND SUPPORT OF PROFESSIONALS INVOLVED WITH THE FAMILY' - translated means the parent has their own way of doing things and the sw whom has never had any children gives crap advice that is totally disproportionate to parenting.

Child's best interests = Anything goes, whatever we say is final and unchallengeable because we are nice and helpful.

We don't want to adopt = Sit there and be fooled whilst we plot, plan and strategise against you.

Child's privacy = This has got to extend far enough to cover our asses though!

Most ridiculous SS statements... yay, there are so many to choose from!!

11 = The legacy of Baby P should be a payrise for social workers.
(CAFCASS wants to reward the incompetent Shoesmith).

12 = "Thank GOD for Social workers" campaign
(Take a break magazine - who probably have lost half their circulation by issuing badges with this on).

13 = Because of the recession, it would save money to take MORE children into care.

'in the current climate of things'
which translates
yet again we have failed a child in the most horrific of circumstance, so we are targeting you as you seem reasonable, not the type to come after me and my family so i will come after yours

you have been assessed by a wide ranging group of professionals
loosely translated, we are higher than common mortals, have an exaggerated belief
that we are superiour beings to you, you are only a parent how dare you be uppity
to challenge our well founded assumptions and fight for your family, question our
judgements, ect.

We deem you to be in our high and mighty opinion ,being unreasonable in withoholding your consent
to our proposed plans for adoption.

translated means we do not give a &&&& about the sadness and Pain that you may go through
for the rest of you life, using the old chestnut, this is in the childs best interests.

'The Parent is Difficult & Confrontational' translates to - The parent is a highly intelligent person whom is able to see right through our lies and refuses to allow us to pervert the course of justice, and is not afraid to make the judiciary aware of our wrong doings, so we'll use the phrase to make them look bad in court.

In addition to:

The parent has been digging, doing research, caught the gal & gal sol quite literally with their pants down, so Laurel & Hardy have to do something to try to stop the parent from disclosing the information to regulatory bodies which would cost us our beloved highly paid jobs!!!!

challenging a GAL comments that a parent is in some way warped, in that they do not accept the judgements against them and have
minds of their own, and dare to point our the innacuracies to them in their own homes, while the GAL has the temerity to be under
their roof, at the GAL request.
We as GALs do not like it if parent threatnes to complain about atrocious behaviour, displayed by GAL during duration of visit.
its the pot calling the kettle black, they would not tolerate objectional behaviour in thier own homes

I just had the most ridiculous comment made to me this morning from a Service Manager of all people:

No you can't have contact with your son; we are not going to permit you to see him, but please work with us on this one

In other words, 'Do as we say or we will twist this situation to use it against you in court to prove you don't co-operate with us. Therefore we really do have you over a barrell Mum'.
