(I wasn't really sure where to post this link, so decided to post it here. It is a 64 page PDF document so have posted the link only).

Oh dear, has anyone else read this publication? It's not looking good so far...

On page 28, p.95. It says they will be looking into the cost of court fees to see if it acts as a deterrent for the LA to commence care proceedings. This is not looking good at all! It sounds like the court fees will be abolished altogether by 2010/11!

On page 37, p.20. It states that all incidents of drug, alcohol or domestic violence reported which may put a child at risk of abuse or neglect will incur an automatic referral to SS. That doesn't sound good for mothers (and fathers in some cases) who have been subjected to domestic violence.

P.21 Includes mental health issues with regards to the above.

You're getting the measure of them.

Basically they need to feed the adoption agencies.

Courts are being set up for alcohol/drug abuse.
And guess what they want... treatment of the parents or take the kids?

let us not be naive did we really think that after baby p things would be better
early intervention
local so called independent panels to decide on the child's future this removes it from the court arena
more pressure for parents to voluntary accommodate there children in care
its a blue print for stealing more children
p laws so they are now named is nothing more than the planed laws they were waiting to get in place

I for one know full well that in principle what is written is right but like our Local Authority they are so short staffed there's no chance this could be implimented, our SS have Job adverts all over the place.

And that I suspect is the cause of the problem.

Social workers spending their time harassing families instead of protecting children.
