RCPCH - Search document "Child Protection Companion"

This should be about "fractures" in general. Obviously some are evidence of abuse, others are not (vide Webster/Hardingham).

This book is certainly worth a read on this subject

Abstract The occurrence of metaphyseal cortical irregularities in adolescents in many different bones indicates a commonality of these lesions as a variation of normal growth, rather than a stress or avulsive by-product. The histologically recognized incomplete nature of the metaphysial cortex in children offers an attractive explanation for this phenomenon.

keywords being Commonality and variation in normal growth.

Silverbirch , thank you for this PDF
I have kept a lot of research and found a lot of this in social care data -bases.
The reality of the work and the theory is terrifying when put into practices.
Did any one read I am on dodgy placements? on carespace community ?
In the children's services section.

Alarming reading of how untrained SW's are on dodgy placements in schools and hospitals flagging up families.

You simply could not write this .

The origin of this lie in years ago certain radiologists had a theory that fractues at the ends of bones were caused by deliberate violence and therefore abuse.

A scottish doctor proved this was not so and copper defienciency could cause these.

Immediately a campaign started to "defend the research", he was struck off and the theory relaunched as this being healed fractures caused by a twisting motion.

The same group of radiologists were used as expert witnesses by the Secret Court again and again.

Problem - these structures are caused by natural growth.

Pseudo science is at the heart of the matter

Like NICE monitor the drugs in the NHS based on clinical excellence - the drug has to be proven, and they say yea or nay.

We need a NICE to monitor science for the courts, as barristers are convincing the un medical of all sorts.
