A boy of seven could hold the key to a jailed child-minder clearing her name, his mum said yesterday.

Claire Robinson said Liam, four at the time, had seen the 2005 incident which led to Keran Henderson's manslaughter conviction.

She is alleged to have shaken 11-month-old Maeve Sheppard so hard the tot later died of her injuries.

But Claire said Liam, who was with Maeve, 42, at the house in Iver Heath, Bucks, hadn't seen any violence.

She said: "Liam said Maeve got poorly and had to go in an ambulance. There was never so much as a hint Keran had lost her temper.

"Liam and the others were happily playing as I arrived. Not distressed as if they had seen a violent attack."

The police allegedly only asked to speak to Liam five months later.

Claire, of Milton Keynes, said: "It was too late. Liam's memories were no longer fresh." Henderson's solicitor Bill Bache called the situation "hopeless".

Claire, 41, said: "I am convinced Keran did not do it."
